welcome to cyber space ~ virtual art sphere

The research project "i am digital" investigates the evolution of the curator's role within decentralized digital ecosystems. It moves away from the traditional "white cube" model to explore the potential of the web browser as a primary exhibition space. The project is situated at the intersection of artistic practice and curatorial theory, utilizing immersive 3D technologies to create a narrative-driven experience.

Research Problem & Motivation

How can we design digital interfaces that function not only as archives but as living, immersive environments? How can the aesthetics of "digital girlhood" and web nostalgia (early 2000s UI/UX) be used to build a new emotional connection between the digital object and the viewer?

Methodological Approach: The Browser as an Interface

Unlike static online galleries, this project utilizes Three.js, WebGL, and New Art City platform with 3D elements (Autodesk Maya) to construct a fluid, 3D curatorial framework. This allows for: Spatial Storytelling: Moving beyond the "grid" layout of websites to a spatial experience where the user’s navigation is part of the curatorial narrative. Aesthetics of Identity: Exploring how the visual language of the early internet (vibrant colors, specific UI elements, glitched aesthetics) shapes our perception of digital identity. Mediation through Interaction: Implementing interactive elements that serve as digital "labels" or audio-guides; making complex media art accessible and engaging.

Technical Stack

Development: Three.js, JavaScript, WebGL, HTML. Design: Autodesk Maya (3D Modeling), New City Platform. Focus: Responsive immersive environments, interactive UI/UX, cross-platform accessibility.
